Breast cancer screening

1 in 8 women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime.  Most of these cancers are not hereditary or related to known cancers in the family.  For this reason, the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology recommends screening mammograms at the age of 40 and every year there after.  In addition, an annual breast exam from a practitioner and regular self breast exams are recommended.
